Overview: Intermediate 10” FPV Course

This course is built for pilots ready to move beyond small FPV platforms and into full-scale, high-performance systems.

Over two days, students will train exclusively on the 2nd Order Effects Hourglass platform—a 10-inch drone capable of exceeding 80 MPH and built for real-world application. 

This is a skill-focused course designed to teach you how to operate, plan, and sustain flights on larger platforms where speed, weight, and consequences all scale up.

EXPECT TO INCREASE EXPERIENCE IN:

  • Platform Setup & Configuration

    • Betaflight or ArduPilot setup (based on your platform)

    • Control system settings for stability and performance

  • Flight Planning

    • Basic Mission Planning before takeoff

    • Managing routes, risk, and contingencies

  • Flight on 10” Platforms

    • Managing speed, inertia, and control at scale

    • Flying high-performance systems safely and effectively

    • Weighted inert payload flight, and dropping of inert payloads

    • Piloting with use of thermal FPV camera

TRAINING PACKAGE OPTIONS:

2 Day Training + HOURGLASS Rental: $2500

  • Hourglass FPV drone (provided for the weekend)

  • Controller, goggles, batteries, and supporting equipment

  • Full course instruction

  • Feel free to bring your own analog FPV goggles

DETAILS AND LOGISTICS:

Pricing includes all necessary equipment, and lunch on both days. Airfare and ground transportation to the training site not included.

On-site Lodging: Optional for $200

Lodging is bunkhouse style with shared kitchen, dining room and tv lounge.
